Hi Everyone, Ruth here from Wild Atlantic Sports.
Firstly, I hope you are all keeping well and staying safe at home. The COVID-19 outbreak has been a very unsettling and challenging time for everyone. We’re all dealing with a high level of uncertainty in our lives. Despite the uncertainty, we are hopeful that life will return to normal or fairly normal relatively soon. Until then, we hope you #stayhome and #staysafe.
As with all non-essential businesses in Ireland, Wild Atlantic Sports has been closed since 25th March 2020. On a usual year, spring is normally a hectic time - running the Cycling Ireland primary schools programme, Cycle Right, as well as helping customer to rental bikes and leading bike tours. This year's been a little different.....
Instead, since the middle of March, we’ve been doing our best to stay at home with only occasional trips outside (restrictions here dictate that we have to stay in a 2km zone) to exercise. Thankfully, myself and my partner live by the beach on the route of the Wild Coast Tour so we have some great areas to explore right on our doorstep! It’s a great time of year for cycling and walking with longer days and spring growth starting to shoot.
Growth & Opportunity
The COVID-19 restrictions have also some new opportunities arrive on our doorstep.....
One of these was a chance to work with Cork Sports Partnership in putting together an online guide to help parents teach their children to cycle. Often children with learning difficulties struggle with cycling so this guide is aimed at children of all abilities. We’ve had a huge response to the programme - much larger than we anticipated so it’s really been great to be involved.
So, it's online cycling for the time being!
We're thinking most of us Irish are going to be holidaying at home this year, so at the moment, we're putting together some new exciting self-guided bike tours which will appeal to those on a 'stay-cation'.
Stay here and stay tuned for more information!
Stay safe! We'll see you soon.
We are still open for tour and rental bookings but appreciate that for a lot of people a holiday is far away from their thoughts as they make sure loved ones are safe and cared for.
However, when life becomes a bit more normal and people can plan time off, we do look forward to welcoming customers back. We’re sure the birds will be singing loud and clear when that happens!
